Semester Abroad Program


 
International University College offers the opportunity for International students to take full academic semester program, earn and transfer credits toward their major in the home university.
 
All courses offered at IUC within program delivered in English are open to incoming students. They register for these in the beginning of each semester.
 
In order to help students with insufficient English language knowledge to adapt to the language of communication at IUC and to smooth their adjustment to the academic standards in place, IUC offers the students the opportunity to join the intensive English language course organized each year prior to the beginning of the academic year. The course begins in August and has duration of four weeks. It is completely free of charge for all exchange and full-time students at IUC.
 
During the stay the students are offered the opportunity to improve their English language skills in the framework of additional language courses delivered by teachers of the Foreign Languages Department Monday to Friday from 3:30 pm.
 
To support international students’ integration and participation in local life, a course in Bulgarian language and culture is offered at IUC during the academic year.

An international company plans to outsource its business to another country. What are the procedures concerning this relocation? What type of personnel does the company need? What qualities are necessary for completing tasks? The Human Resource Management Pathway teaches students how to cope with these issues in an effective way. The specialists in the field of Human Resources play an increasingly important role in the management of organizations of different nature. In fact, every manager regardless of their department is responsible for their subordinates and generally for the people who work in the organization and the quality of work they display. The Human Resources pathway prepares students for managerial positions in various industries and government organizations on international level. Those who graduate this course will have knowledge both in the field of economics/trade and legal procedures.  
 
Strategy/Enterprise pathway:
Enterprising and strategic management is a pathway with rich traditions in the preparation of students for their professional success in the field of business planning and the market entry strategies for a particular market. The dissertation, which comprises three of the MBA's nine modules, is an intellectually challenging piece of individual management research, that gives students with the knowledge, capabilities and competencies of today’s successful managers.

Housing & Student Life


 
Starting 2013-2014 academic year students in Dobrich can benefit from the new
dormitory at IUC. It is located in the city center and 10 minutes walking
distance from the IUC building. Each apartment dorm has 3 rooms. The price
of the room varies between 80-120 Euros depending on the size of the room.
There are 2 or 3 beds in every room. The price does not include the cost of
water, electricity and gas. Rooms are furnished and the kitchens are
equipped with stoves. For each additional device such as TV or a mini
fridge the students will be charged separately.
 
IUC offers accommodation in several locations in Dobrich.
 
The main dormitory of the IUC is located in the city park at around 300
meters from the IUC building. The rooms feature refrigerator, electric
kettle, TV set, air conditioning (optional). Accommodation is offered in
single and double rooms. The cost is approximately 5 EUR/day per student in
a double room and includes all utility fees (electricity, heating, water,
etc). The building also houses the "Ben the Bear" restaurant, which is
available for students to visit.
 
One of the wings of the IUC building is equipped with a ramp and an
elevator for people with disabilities. All guest rooms feature in IUC’s
main building have free wi-fi connection, central heating system,
refrigerator, private bathroom. The rooms are subject to availability.
 
Alternative accommodation is available in proximity to IUC based on student
demand. We will try to provide accommodation for all students who have
booked it in advance.
 
If you want to live in a private apartment in the centre of Dobrich, it
would not be difficult to find an appropriate place in the area surrounding
IUC at a reasonable price. Since everything a young person may need can be
found in the centre of the city, you would not need to pay for
transportation.

restaurants, bars, and a swimming pool
2) Sport Palace Hotel (three-star) - it offers 100 beds, a restaurant, two

5) Rezidentsiyata Hotel and Restaurant.
 
However, we recommend to new students to utilize the accommodation options
offered by IUC in order to get familiar with the place.
 
Currently students of IUC can join the following clubs and societies:
Sports Club, Dancing Club, Club in Journalism and Writing. In 2012 IUC
students in the tourism and hospitality programmes established the
Hospitality Industry Travel & Tourism Society, HITTS.
 
IUC is committed to multiculturalism, diversity and to a culture of peace.
The Marketing Department and the International
Cooperation Department encourages international
students to interact closely with the their fellow students and to
familiarize them with their cultures through all forms of creative art,
music, singing, dancing and food. In this way a taste of the world is
offered to local and international students. The International Students
week at IUC is organized traditionally in November and includes a series of
cultural events and culinary adventures.

PASSPORTS

All locations for our programs require that students have a passport. To obtain a passport for the first time, you need to go in person to one of 7,000 passport acceptance facilities located throughout the United States with two photographs of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship, and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver's license.

 

VISAS

While each country has its own specific requirements, issuance of a student visa generally requires verification of enrollment in a foreign institution of learning, a financial statement guaranteeing the student will have access to adequate funds during their stay, and other forms or documents required by the consulate.

Obtaining a student visa may be a timely process therefore the application should be started as early as possible. Upon acceptance into the programs, each student should immediately print the Student Visa Application Guidelines and the Consulate Visa Application. Study Abroad Europe cannot intervene for students who do not acquire appropriate passports or visas

Non US Citizens and students not residing in the US should contact their nearest Bulgarian Consulate and follow their directions for obtaining a student visa. Students may request the necessary documents from our office.
