Housing & Student Life
Housing for International Students
BIC can also organize and provide student housing in Barcelona for the duration of your studies with us. We understand that each student is different and has unique preferences, which is why we provide you with three types of student housing from which to choose.
STUDENT RESIDENCES
Our brand new international residence hall is located in the heart of the city center, a 5 minute stroll from the Paseo de Grácia. The ideal location along with excellent amenities and special features ensures a comfortable, pleasant and hassle-free stay where you will live alongside fellow international students from all around the world in a welcoming, multicultural atmosphere. All of the residence rooms have a telephone and TV, and the vast majority of them also contain a private bathroom. Our residence is an ideal Barcelona student housing option if you're looking for a convenient, comfortable and safe place with everything you need right in the building. You will be able to prepare your own meals thanks to the residence's fully-equipped kitchen, stocked with modern cookers, ovens, microwaves, electric coffee makers and refrigerators. There is also a café and even a swimming pool on site.
STUDENT APARTMENTS
If you're looking for an independent lifestyle but don't want to miss out on enjoying a fun, international atmosphere, then a shared apartment is an excellent student housing option for you. Apartments, while simple, are clean and equipped with everything you will need, including wireless internet access in most properties. In your room you are guaranteed a bed, closet / wardrobe, and table or desk with a chair. You and your flatmates, international peers also enrolled in university studies at BIC, will share a common TV / sitting room, a fully-equipped kitchen in which you can prepare your meals, a bathroom, a washing machine and an iron. A professional cleaning service will clean the apartment's common areas once a week, but you and your flatmates will be expected to keep the apartment clean, organized and in good condition. You'll be sharing a room, although you can secure an individual room if you prefer.
HOST FAMILIES
At BIC we have fostered relationships with several carefully-chosen local host families, who will welcome you into their homes for the duration of your studies and integrate you as part of the family. Host families are a wonderful student housing option if you're seeking a comfortable environment with optimal opportunities to practice Spanish in an authentic Spanish-speaking setting. What's more, it will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get an insider's look at the Spanish culture and lifestyle and to check out for yourself typical Spanish cuisine as breakfast and dinner are included each day (except days with excursions).

Travel Documents
PASSPORTS
All locations for our programs require that students have a passport. To obtain a passport for the first time, you need to go in person to one of 7,000 passport acceptance facilities located throughout the United States with two photographs of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship, and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver's license.
VISAS
While each country has its own specific requirements, issuance of a student visa generally requires verification of enrollment in a foreign institution of learning, a financial statement guaranteeing the student will have access to adequate funds during their stay, and other forms or documents required by the consulate.
In accordance with Spanish law all students studying in Spain for MORE than 90 days are required to obtain a student visa. It is no longer necessary for US students studying for LESS than 90 days to obtain a visa. Our office will guide students through this process and direct them to the appropriate consular office. However, it is the responsibility of each individual student to obtain necessary visas.
Obtaining a student visa may be a timely process therefore the application should be started as early as possible. Upon acceptance into the programs, each student should immediately print the Student Visa Application Guidelines and the Consulate Visa Application. Study Abroad Europe cannot intervene for students who do not acquire appropriate passports or visas
Non US Citizens and students not residing in the US should contact their nearest Italian Consulate and follow their directions for obtaining a student visa. Students may request the necessary documents from our office.
For visa information relating to your specific study abroad location, please refer to the required readings in your Study Abroad Europe account (you must have started an application)
